Abstract

Potted fruit trees required growth control to produce normal plants with a relatively small size. This research aims to determine the effects of pruning and fertilization on pummelo plant growth. The experiment was conducted from April to November 2014 at the Agrotechnology Experimental Field, Djuanda University, Bogor. A factorial completely randomized design was used. The first factor was pruning levels (with pruning and without prunning) and the second was fertilizer in the following levels: no fertilizer (K0), K1 ( 6.25 g Urea, 3.75g SP-36, 2.5g KCl), K2 (6.25g Urea, 5.62 g SP-36, 3.7 g KCl), K3 (6.25 g Urea, 7.5 g SP-36, 5.00 g KCl), K4 (6.25 g Urea, 7.5 g SP-36, 6.25g KCl) each application. Results of the study showed that increased fertilizer dose of SP-36 and KCl on not pruned plants increase plant height and nitrogen leaves content. While phosphorus content on not fertilized plants tend higher than fertilized plant. Fertilized plant have the number of leaves and the phosphorus content of leaves. Pummelo plants treated with no fertilizer had smaller number of leaves, canopy volume and leaf width than did those treated with fertilizers. Plants which were not pruned had higher number of leaves but lower leaf K content than did those received pruning treatment.
